GMW is an annual global awareness-raising campaign to ensure that young people, from an early age, are financially aware, and are gradually acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve financial well-being and financial resilience. The campaign is coordinated by the OECD and implemented by national authorities since 2012, over 170 countries have joined the movement. Mongolia has been an active participant since 2013, hosting annual financial literacy events for the youth. To date, the campaign has directly engaged over 193,000 participants and reached a total of 3.7 million citizens with financial information.

Initiated by the Bank of Mongolia, the Global Money Week 2026 campaign has officially launched under the theme “Smart Money Talks.” This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Financial Regulatory Commission, the General Authority for Education, the Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Mongolian Bankers Association, and commercial banks. The opening ceremony took place at the Central Bank of Mongolia, with more than 200 children and youth in attendance.

In his opening remarks, S. Narantsogt Governor of the Bank of Mongolia emphasized: “A financially literate citizen not only manages their personal finances effectively but also makes a tangible contribution to the country’s sustainable economic growth and development. This is the true essence of the saying, “A wealthy population leads to a strong nation.”

During this three week campaign, partner organizations will conduct diverse training sessions and advocacy activities focusing on financial decision-making, savings, investment and risk management.
