Deputy Governor of the Bank of Mongolia G. Enkhtaivan Meets with French Delegation to Strengthen Bilaterial Cooperation

The Deputy Governor of the Bank of Mongolia, G. Enkhtaivan, met with H.E. Corinne Pereira, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the France to Mongolia, and Mr. Kevin Vezanson, Deputy Head of the Regional Economic Service at the French Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The parties exchanged views on potential avenues to further expand financial and economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the participants shared insights on Mongolia’s current macroeconomic conditions, ongoing banking sector reforms, and policies aimed at strengthening financial stability. They also discussed potential directions for future bilateral cooperation.
Deputy Governor G.Enkhtaivan highlighted the recovery of Mongolia’s economic activity, noting that real GDP growth reached 6.8% in 2025 and that annual inflation stood at 7.4% as of March 2026. In addition, it was emphasized that official foreign exchange reserves have increased by approximately 44% year-on-year, covering 8.4 months of imports, providing strong support for macroeconomic and financial stability.

The parties noted that financial cooperation between Mongolia and France is yielding tangible results. In particular, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from France to Mongolia increased by USD 15 million in 2025. Furthermore, the Bank of Mongolia has been actively collaborating with the Banque de France on foreign exchange reserve management since 2017.
In addition, through partnerships with PROPARCO and international donors, a total of USD 334 million has been provided to the Mongolia’s banking sector to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and green projects. Notably, Crédit Agricole CIB participated as a joint lead manager in the issuance of the Government of Mongolia’s sovereign bonds in 2025.

In conclusion, both sides expressed their commitment to deepening financial and economic cooperation between Mongolia and France by enhancing experience sharing, strengthening capacity building, and promoting joint projects and programs.
