Mongolia Officially Launches the Google Pay Payment System

The international digital payment service Google Pay has officially launched in Mongolia as of today. Previously, Golomt Bank and the Trade and Development Bank of Mongolia introduced Apple Pay to their customers in December 2024. With the launch of Google Pay on 18 November 2025, users of Android and Wear OS devices are now able to make payments more conveniently, quickly, and securely.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Lkhagvasuren Byadran, the Governor of the Bank of Mongolia, noted that Apple Pay and Google Pay play a significant role in global payment trends, enabling users to complete transactions easily and swiftly with just a few taps on their smartphones. He emphasized that these services not only accelerate the payment process for merchants but also have a positive impact on customer satisfaction.

With the introduction of Google Pay in Mongolia, users can now make international payments using the national “₮ Card,” marking an important milestone in aligning Mongolia’s payment system with global standards and practices.

Google Pay is a widely used digital payment solution operating in more than 100 countries worldwide. It encrypts payment information and protects user data through biometric authentication, including fingerprint and facial recognition technologies.
