Narantsogt Appointed as Governor of the Bank of Mongolia

On December 18, 2025, at the plenary session of the Parliament of Mongolia, the Parliament considered and approved changes to the leadership of the Bank of Mongolia. Mr. B. Lkhagvasuren was relieved of his duties as Governor upon the completion of his term of office, and Mr. Sanjaa Narantsogt was appointed as Governor of the Bank of Mongolia.

Governor S. Narantsogt was born in 1973 in Dundgovi province. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in physics and mathematics from the Physics and Mathematics at the National University of Mongolia in 1994, followed by a master’s degree at the same university between 1999 and 2001, and completed his doctoral studies at Seoul National University in South Korea from 2005 to 2008.

1994–1997: Engineer / Senior Engineer, Science and Technology Information Center

1997–2000: Program Coordinator, Open Society Forum of Mongolia

2000–2003: General Manager, “IC” LLC

2003–2005: Specialist / Department Head, Ministry of Finance and Economy

2008–2012: Director of Department, Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Sports

2012–2015: Director of Department, Ministry of Labor

2015–2017: Director of Department, Ministry of Finance

2017–2021: Secretary General, Ministry of Finance

2021–2022: Deputy Minister of Economic Development

Since 2022, he has served as the CEO of Erdenes Mongol LLC and has now been appointed   Governor of the Bank of Mongolia. Subsequently, the former Governor B. Lkhagvasuren extended his congratulations to Mr. S. Narantsogt and formally transferred the duties and responsibilities of the office.
