Governor of the Bank of Mongolia S.Narantsogt Attends Central Bank Symposium Meets with Governor of the People’s Bank of China

The Governor of the Bank of Mongolia, Mr. Narantsogt Sukhbaatar, is attending a high-level symposium titled “Navigating Global Financial Uncertainty – Financial Market Developments, Investment Strategies, and the International Monetary System” in Shanghai. The symposium is jointly organized by the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), and convened at the invitation of Mr. Pan Gongsheng, the Governor of the PBOC.
The symposium brings together governors of leading central banks, senior officials from the BIS and the PBOC, as well as representatives from major international financial institutions, including HSBC, Citi, Standard Chartered, and DBS. Amid the heightened geopolitical risks, evolving trade policies, and increased volatility in global capital flows, participants are exchanging views on financial market developments, investment strategies, and the future of the international monetary system.
The event was opened by Pablo Hernandez de Cos, General Manager of the BIS, and Pan Gongsheng, the Governor of the PBOC. In the opening remarks, they emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and policy coordination among central banks in a changing global financial landscape.
During the symposium, Governor Narantsogt participated in the central bank governors’ panel discussion, “Charting the Path Ahead,” where he shared Mongolia’s experience and policy priorities in safeguarding financial stability, developing domestic financial markets, and enhancing international cooperation in response to emerging global economic challenges.

Participants also pointed out that boosting investment in emerging markets largely depends on predictable and transparent policies, market liquidity, and the development of financial hedging tools. They also noted the importance of market deepening, investor awareness, and a supportive regulatory environment.
In addition, executives from major international commercial banks and financial institutions, including Standard Chartered, Citi, and DBS, shared the private sector’s perspective. They discussed the practical challenges, market realities, and future opportunities of investing in emerging markets.
On the sidelines of the event, Governor Narantsogt held a bilateral meeting with PBOC Governor Pan Gongsheng to discuss the progress of cooperation between the two central banks and explore opportunities to further expand collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
