The Bank of Mongolia joins The Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS)

On 11 August 2026, the Bank of Mongolia became a member of the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS).
The NGFS was established in 2017 on the initiative of the central banks of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Sweden, Mexico, Singapore, the Netherlands and China, together with the Swedish financial supervisory authority, with the aim of managing climate-related risks in the financial sector and promoting green and sustainable finance. To date, central banks and supervisory authorities from more than 90 countries have joined the Network, bringing its membership to 175 (151 Members, 24 Observers) institutions.
The policy measures, methodologies, projects and research work and international cooperation that the Bank of Mongolia has carried out in the areas of sustainable development and green finance since 2019 played an important role in the Bank becoming a member of the Network.
Membership of the Network is of significant importance for Mongolia, as it will enable the Bank of Mongolia to: (1) introduce international best practice and innovative methodologies into the national financial system; (2) strengthen sustainable finance policy, adopt international good practice and align policy and regulation with global standards; and (3) reinforce financial stability, attract green investment and expand cooperation.
