Date: 2021/03/22

A ‘Global Money Week’ campaign, being organized by OECD International Network on Financial Education, was launched in Mongolia yesterday, March 22.

GMW is an annual global awareness-raising campaign to improve the financial education of children and youth. This year’s official slogan is ‘Learn.Save.Earn’ and the Central bank has been organizing the campaign since 2013.

In Mongolia, the campaign is organized by the Bank of Mongolia, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Mongolian Bankers Association, the Family and Youth Development Agency, the National Centre for Lifelong Education, Sparkassenstiftung Mongolia and commercial banks from March 22 to April 12. During the online conference, the Bank of Mongolia and the participant organizations have discussed the current state of financial education in Mongolia and its future trends. Mr Enkhtaivan – the Vice Governor of the Bank of Mongolia, had opened the event and highlighted the fact that the Bank of Mongolia has been successfully implementing the "Public Financial Literacy Program" in cooperation with other organizations since 2016. Having financially literate citizens positively affects the economic stability of a country. Therefore, he emphasized that the financial education section has been included in the State Monetary Policy Guidelines since 2013.

During the campaign, lessons on “money management”, “personal finance and household budget”, “savings”, and “electronic currency” will be organized with partner organizations.
