The foreign exchange reserves of Mongolia have reached USD 3.0 Billion

Mongolia’s foreign exchange reserves have reached USD 3.0 billion as of Dec 27th 2017, which is an increase of 2.5 times from the beginning of the year and 3.0 times from the same period of last year.  The following factors played a key role in the increase of the foreign reserves:

  • The gold purchase of the Bank of Mongolia has reached 20.0 tons which is an increase of 9 percent from the same period of last year (YoY).
  • The financing of USD 700.0 million has been credited within the “Extended Fund Facility” arrangement by the IMF and therefore foreign investor’s confidence in Mongolia has increased.
  • The Government of Mongolia has successfully issued Gerege and Khuraldai bonds in the international market.
